Accessories Sentimental Value

I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. Do you ever see accessories that bring out an emotional response for you.
Kate Spade has a collection of things that have Camels on them. My Mom collected camels. She had over 300. I ordered this today because it reminded me of my Mom.
I'm curious has anyone else done this.

I tagged this as inspiration because it was inspirational for me.

Debbie, I think that is great that you ordered something that brings fond memories of you mom.

For sure Debbie. My Mum loves birds and I recently purchased earrings with birds on them and she noticed immediately! Then of course there is jewellery passed down or chosen when a loved-one dies that forever reminds you of them.

What a wonderful way to remember your mother! My mother loved birds and grandmother collected penguins. It would be such fun to find penquin jewelry (not the cartoon)

I probably do this, although I can't think of a specific example right now. I think it's lovely that you found something that reminds you of your mom. It's a really cute necklace, too. :)

Such a touching and heartwarming backstory for an accessory, Debbie.

I can't say I've actually bought something to remember someone who's passed on; it's more about cherishing their gifts or favourite objects --- like my grandma's ring that was given to her by my grandfather as a child bride of 11 (was the norm in those days, though something *her* father hated to do; but there were difficult and dangerous circumstances that necessitated it at the time, in her case).

She'd never worn it in my lifetime, being shorn of jewellery per our cultural norms as an young widow when my mother was an infant --- but it has a contraction of her name on it, which is precious to me, especially as the contraction itself means 'friend'. She was her husband's friend and playmate in his young adulthood, before she was his 'wife', and she was the best friend of my childhood. I like how it links us all together, not just her and me or her to the playmate she lost too early in life, but also me to the grandparent I never knew.

ETA: Ha! I did buy bobbin earrings (literally spools of purple thread strung on silver wire) recently on Father's Day, and was thinking of my Dad while I wore them all through yesterday! He's going to shake his head and call them 'crazy' but I know he's also going to be amused when he sees them.

That's a cute necklace, and such a sweet sentiment behind it! I am sure that you will enjoy wearing it.

I have a soft spot for arabesque patterns because my dad does Islamic art, and these patterns were prevalent in my upbringing and still in my parent's home. Also the only pink I really like is fuchsia, which doesn't suit me too well, but is one of my mom's signature colors so I enjoy wearing it because it reminds me of her :)

What a wonderful collection your Mum must have had, Debbie. Camels, it's so unexpected, love that. I'm glad you found this beautiful pendant, it will no doubt make you smile a little extra each time you wear it because of the memories associated with it.

I have a few items that belonged to my Mom, and although I havent worn them, I'd NEVER want to part with them.... I have several things my Mom had bought for me that I use often and always think of her when I see them.

That's just beautiful, Debbie. It will make wearing your camel pendant all the more special.

For sure, I'm sentimental about stuff. If anyone comes across a scarf, tie, shirt or bow tie with Yorkies on it - TELL ME.

My mom collects hats from all the countries she travels to and believe it it's a lot! She is in Tanzania right now and I can't wait to see what she brings back. It always makes me smile and although I don't wear many hats, I do love to look at them.

    @Angie,
I have my whippet socks and am always looking for more whippet accent pieces!

That camel necklace is really pretty Debbie. You are so sweet to want to have a memory of your Mom. You will enjoy that piece forever. I wonder what types of camels your mother collected. Were they figurines? I also wonder what drew her to collecting camels. Very interesting.
